Coffee Grounds

My roommate has coffee beans he does not like that he has offered to let me use. Are there any consequences to mixing them into the substrate ground but unused. Or should I make coffee with them first, and just toss the coffee?

(Normally, I just collect his used ones, but this would be a little quicker for now.)

Sorry about that. I thought my placement was correct since I'm using the grounds for my substrate. Any ideas though?

Starbucks will give you a big garbage bag full of used coffee grounds for free. I got sbt 10lbs in my freezer ready to experiment with.
