Queen Isabella 1248
You ever get started with enoki? I am looking at them as possible addition to my library.

Queen Isabella 1248
Kewl ,reishi is awesome, I just knocked up 7 jars of popcorn with some reishi myself, this will be my first reishi grow also.. Do you know which kind of reishi you ordered. ?
RhythmAddict 901
Ganoderma lucidum. i have a syringe of LC and figured id hold onto it until i get decent at liquid culture and noc a larger jar. I used your 50/50 karo/honey recipe last night 1 tablespoon (15ml) of each for 30ml total since im doing 600ml jars. probably noc em tonight or tomorrow morning.
Popular Post Queen Isabella 1248
OK kewl, that is the recipe I used for the Ganaderma lucidum LC I had, it grew really fast. Now it's to the point I can refrigerate it. I knocked up my popcorn jars yesterday with a syringe full of it and the mycelium is already recovering and growing nicely. I heard reishi had super strong mycelium but that's fast.
RhythmAddict 901
When do you determine its time for the fridge? I innoculated my LC today. I see what you mean about the sediment with honey. Doesn't bother me any.
Popular Post Queen Isabella 1248
OK, well first I like to swirl my LC jars once a day , for one I'm checking for growth and then it helps the mycelium to not grow together as much. But as far as when To refrigerate you will see a nice large mass of mycelium and the color of the sediment and the color of the honey itself will lighten up alot, you will definitely be able to tell it's happening and when it looks like the sediment has been eaten and the color is alot lighter that's when I frigerate, you can do it sooner but it's better to wait till you have a nice big healthy blob of mycelium in there. I will take some pics later today and post them here so you can see .
Popular Post Queen Isabella 1248
Hey bud it took me awhile to remember who I was talking to, sorry about that, I had to go through the posts I been looking at and figure out which one it was. Anyway here is a small progression of how honey looks as it starts to clear, first the liquid surrounding the sediment and mycelium clears and then the mycelium eats away the sediment as it colonizes it and eventually eats it all away , the dark brown will slowly turn into smaller and smaller pieces until you have clean looking mycelium. Still have a gold color though unless you use a super clean almost white honey then it I'll turn more white
RhythmAddict 901
Cool thanks! i keep squinting trying to see hints of myc. I "swirl" the jars by holding the bottom of the jar in my palm and twist it slowly back and forth. breaks up the sediment real well with no splashing.

Queen Isabella 1248
Ok, my edibles didn't care for the dark brown honey from my area, they are growing slowly. They grew very quickly when I mixed half light karo with the darker honey but more slowly when using straight dark honey. They grew super fast when I used straight light golden organic raw honey . The only exception is the blue oyster it has grown quickly on the straight dark honey and filled the jars with culture like from top to bottom 90 percent culture and very little clear liquid.
RhythmAddict 901
I feel like my LC is going slowly, but ive been sick and havent checked in a few days.
Queen Isabella 1248
I started all of mine from live culture , liquid and agar wedge. Starting from spore always went very slowly for me. So now I start spores on agar and then go to liquid cultures I don't remember do you have yours in a incubator?
RhythmAddict 901
Yep have mine in the incubator. bit ive finally got the temp a little more stable with a thermal blanket wrapped over it. went from spore so maybe its just being slow. would it take longer than grain to start from spore?
