Waiting after full colonization

Recommended Posts

I have waited 7-10 days after full colonization was noticed when doing cakes as this is what the Teks suggest. Is this required when colonizing WBS? I have 5 quarts going, after the shake they exploded and colonized fast then I would have ever imagined. 5 days after the shake they are 100%. Should I wait another 7-10 days like with cakes or are they ready to spawn to bulk Now? Is there any benefit or draw back to either waiting or spawning now? Few photos of the progression, before the shake, a day after the shake and now.

I don't wait extra time for grain. With cakes, you should wait the extra time so the myc can colonize the center of the substrate. With grain jars, you're supposed to shake the jars at 20%. The shake spreads colonized grains all throughout the jar, guaranteeing that the entire jar is colonized as well as the grain against the jar is.

Did you shake those jars?

I did shake them, It was incredible the way they took off and finished colonizing the jar in less then half the time they took to get to the 20/30% mark. Thanks for the quick responses. I will spawn them then. I am a bit nervous as this is my first attempt with bulk and really do not want to mess this up. I have 10- 6quart tubs I plan to do dub tubs. I am still unsure of the sub I am going to use. I will do some more reading tonight and make a decision. I might try a couple different Teks and see what I can do. I have bought several different ingredients to chose from. Just no hpoo, it has been to wet and cold to go get some from the neighbors. I will take notes and photos and attempt to put together a grow log. I can't say it enough. Thank you guys and everyone on this site for the free exchange of knowledge, and the words or wisdom and encouragemt I see everyday. It is really amazing the community that exists here. More to come

The 3 Matias Romero cakes have finished their first flush and they all did great I wish I’d taken more photos Fruits are drying now in the dehydrator. Here’s one cake-

Don’t panic. Your jars will be fine. You can actually wait till they show pins in the jar to birth them , if you have no idea when they’ve finished up.

Those halogen lights are hot af. Are you sure it didn’t get too hot and dry out and kill the mycelium? I think anything in the mid 90’s+ can be heading for big trouble, but I’m not certain . But it still doesn’t look close to being ready to put in fruiting conditions, and has likely stalled a long time ago It shouldn’t take 3 weeks to colonize that tub though. It could be contaminated beneath the surface too. Im thinking it has just stalled out, it’s junk after almost 5 weeks, and I would start over. But maybe someone else will chime in with another idea  Sorry man, my deepest condolences.  Get a couple syringes from Source of Spores. Get some Pennington’s Wild Bird Seed from the super center,Composted cow manure and Coarse vermiculite to start , and you’re in business. Follow a tek closely,in our Bulk Grow forum for sure fire success.

Yeah I incubated it for about 3 weeks by placing entire tub in 2 black trash bags and used halogen shop lights to maintain temp. l forgot the casing layer😬, what to do now? These are Burma strain from non-sponsor vendor, I wasted the azurescens sadly, they never even colonized the presterilized grain I paid neary 35 bucks on, they just all mushy and slimy 🤕🤧

Wow those are awesome looking!   Blue!   Are those APE.  Had to look it up.  PE is next on my list.   What got me started on this was some Mexican but couldn't tell you if the were cubensis or cyanescens.  But it was great!   Let us know your feeling on potency comparison.
