My grow history

Recommended Posts

I'll be using this thread as my full grow log. Lightly documenting everything I've done and how it's gone.

I nocd 5 jars WBS, they fully colonized in about 14 days with a good shake around day 9. They're mixed with CMC,coir, verm in a mono incubating. I'll be checking on that feb14-15.

Just nocd 5 more jars yesterday, feb8. They came out of the PC rather wet on the inside, but have a quarter cup of verm on the bottom so I'm gonna ride it out. Not convinced theyll do too well, my LC syringe lacked myc by jar 4. So 4+5 might not do much. I'll update with full setup photos soon.

What cube or cubes are you growing?  I think jars 4 and 5 will be fine, may just take a little longer to colonize.

LC can be a little slow IME due to the nature of the damn thing so much water in there lol.give the last jars some time. you dont even need to be able to see any mycelium or spores for it to be able to grow it'll just be  slower lol

if youre using WBS my advice is to checkout the NSNS tek. I dont simmer I dont soak I dont use verm in my jars I could never imagine doing all that now lol works well for me but not for everyone its worth giving it a try

GT.

The first jars I showed a bit more attention to when it came to drying. Tried a new method of drying on grow2 but it just didn't work out. I'll give them their fighting chance.

I'll try nsns next round.

Grow2 jars 4+5 are showing growth, though 5 was behind the pack. Jar 3 actually didn't have anything. The other 3 are doing great, LC is noticeably faster. Gonna work on making a bettering my LC abilities once I get some spore prints. Hoping to do photos tonight.

nice, maybe jar 3 has some on the inside.

lc is faster than what. spores? lol

I think G2G is my favorite speed wise, agar second

Yeah faster than spores, on G2G you'd shake immediately right? Then have jars in a couple days? I'll do a small grow with this round using 4 jars and use my best one to G2G 6 more.

i gave 3 a gentle roll since i was getting nothing out of it. resulted in growth throughout, see below.

casing is in pc now, added FAE fan/timer + exhaust slits to GH. will be getting hydrometer and changing to fruiting conditions tomorrow. i'll edit this post with more updates at that time.

cased and put into fruiting conditions. misted inside of GH. seemed slightly less colonized than i would have liked. I'll have photos when things start happening, a freshly cased mono is pretty bland looking.

Grow2.

Shook jars 1,2,4. Gave jars 3+5 what I call the gentle roll. I roll them to redistribute the growth without fulling breaking apart the clusters or disturb the verm. It's proved a good way to accelerate slow jars. Jar 2 will be the first fully colonized, followed by 1,4,5,3. I'll be using jar 2 for g2g. I have some rinsed wbs in the fridge.

Grow1.

Still showing clean. Mildly concerned my polyfill may be too tight after doing some reading. Ill probably loosen 3 of the 6 holes. To little of anything is better than too much right?

grow1.

cased mono, still no action. humidity is looking nice.

related request: can someone show me an example of how much polyfill they put into a 1" x 1" mono hole? use a jar or something to give me a reference point. iiiiiiiif someone feels up to the task of course.

grow2.

as you can see, 3 and 5 recovered nicely, 1+4 would have benefited more from a gentle roll as well. but they'll take off again over the next few days. 2 is still kickin ass. the LC is still horrible. i'm

If you can transfer some of your LC myc to a new LC with honey and malt it will grow a lot quicker, everything's looking good, jar 2 is ahead of the pack!!!

Keep the polyfill big and puffy and put just enough in the hole so that it won't fall out.

sounds like a good plan.

i'll have to lessen my amounts then. lessening it now would be best correct? i'm trying to induce evaporation in order to help my pinset form? or could it be better to wait until my casing has colonized a bit and started producing primordia (or is it hypheal knots?)? does a higher co2 level down low help or hinder primordia(knots?)  formation?

Yes, you should do it now. It should be a lot. A lot sticking out of each side but just tight enough so it stays.

The myc doesn't need to eat up the casing for it to form knots. If your casing is good, lots of nooks and crannies and not like a mat, you'll be gold.

and a few examples of what it looks like now.

^^^you see that huge dent!!! i was salty when i saw that after i stashed it away.  how much harm would be caused by me opening it up and fixing that. i could sanitize the are in the GH, use gloves etc. lemmie know what you think.

I can't make out the dent but if your sub is 100% and good you'll be ok to fix it.

i'll wait another day or two before i go in to give it a bit more time to strengthen, if i do.
ts not massive. if i just leave it, the effect would be what? that spot simply doesn't produce? just how detrimental would it be? i'd rather just leave it be but i also want to do the best i can.

Somethings happening.

Jar 4 has a black liquid formed from a single kernel and is completely localized. It was fully colonized before this occured.

Photos tonight.

Either I've got the most widespread simultaneously spontaneously appearing cobweb and I caught it at an earlier time than any examples I can find, or I've got a tiny bit of myc popping up evenly on the monotub in grow1. Also predicting side pins, if all is well.
