Greetings fellow mushroom enthusiasts,

What is the best CMC (cow manure compost) to use for my bulk grow?

I called my local grow shops and they both carry the same brand of CMC: Bu's Blend Biodynamic Compost: Organic and GMO-Free Soil Amendment.

Ingredients: Organic dairy cow manure, straw, wood chips, and biodynamic concentrations of yarrow, chamomile, valerian, stinging nettle, dandelion and oak bark.

Is this good to go? Should I look for a different brand? What do you use?

Any that doesn't contain a fungicide.

I use Black Cow from Lowe's or Home Depot.

I’ve only ever done coir substrates....it’s cheap and forgiving..I’ve heard any manure compost is better yields though I have some experimenting to do... working my way up to it

Compost is pretty much compost. Just as @MagicalCriminal said none with fungicides. Compost is organic by nature. Get what you’re comfortable with. If you want to pay a bunch for a bag with words on it, go for it. You’ll have the same exact results as if you got free compost which is still organic. Do what works for you.

It is just compost that at some time was manure. It is not manure anymore. It’s just low nutrient dirt once it has been composted, for lack of a better term. Much better than coir, but it is good to add coir for its water retaining properties. Saves expensive vermiculite.
