Lifespan for refrigerated l.c's

Recommended Posts

Just looking for member input, experience and/or feedback.

How long can a l.c typically stay viable if refrigerated?

What's the oldest l.c you have used and got good grows from?

4/5 of mine are still clear with white myc and the last one is kinda yellow with yellowing myc should I assume it's dead or could it be in a state of inactivity I don't remember the word for it but it starts with a "s".

Lastly if any of these turn out viable is it better to "feed" them by adding new l.c solution or should I start new l.c's with a syringe outta the old ones?

Thanks for your time and input.

Here are a few pics of my old l.c's they are all from the summer and early fall of 2018, so about 18 months old. 20200127_144239.thumb.jpg.e83886059e525a259b92dcdb45da6853.jpg20200127_144348.thumb.jpg.031fd360b79420c548fcae406e1de1d6.jpgthese last 2 here are of most concern to me the first is from a g2lc so I think that's why it's full of those little dark spots. The yellow one was from that really weird pink buffalo grow I did that had all those weird looking mush.IMAG0960.jpg.6f7abf41259ae70265cc2fcd4fdfcf43.jpgIMAG0970.jpg.d607b7cbb9f4b7677451349747f2b7c0.jpg

so it might have been fucked from the word go.

Any info or input would be appriciated.

I did up a grain jar for each l.c and noced them up Sunday night.  Checked on them today and 1out of 2 of the Alacab l.c's shows white growth prob not enought for a good pic yet.  1 jar down 5 more to go although I don't have a lot of hope for 2 of them.

Talk about "multispore" man lol.  There is like 5 or 6 substains in those tubs, it might look neat but there was so much competition between them that it took them 2x as long to grow compared to a sample that has had some isolation work done to it.

Last night I wasn't able to get a pic but it really popped overnight.20200129_153959.thumb.jpg.e078abda6061239b1b8c49fd7c5739e7.jpg20200129_154037.thumb.jpg.35aaf6d7c264f787c6a076e9def3c519.jpg

still no life showing in the others. My fingers are crossed that this is mush not mold.

Figured since I may have something growing here I'd make up some sub and case material.  I was digging around out in storage for the raw materials and found a unlabeled box that had 14 jars of sub and 7 jars of case already made up and p.ced.  everything seem to be going my way so far, may the mushgods continue to smile apon me.

On Wednesday (maybe real late tuesday) I took the remainder of the grain jars I had left over and used all but a lil for a l.c of the Alacab syringe, it got me 5 more jars if spawn. Today they all showed the beginnings of myc growth. Tomorrow will be better for pics.

4 days later.20200204_154415.thumb.jpg.a802933a6c0d8abcb3f0fd03ad03f4a2.jpg

It's a start.

This jar concerns me 20200204_154650.jpg.8e1b5ab2e93f238caeee6deb3a76556a.jpg

The bright white I like but the rest looks suspect as hell.  Anyone have input I'd like to hear it I could just be "gun shy" we all remember how much I enjoy growing trich.

I was able to revive the Alacab and the Tampensis,  everything else seems to has expired.

But what I got is enough to to get me rolling now.

I'll have time to start spores on agar for a few of my other favorites while these are running the sub.
