no clear tote for a FC, no problem...

6 posts in this topic

I started this tread for Mr.Greenthumb, looks like he is having a hard time find a clear tote for a fruiting chamber. So if anyone gets faced with the same problem, this is a simple way of solving that problem. This is my 1st FC for bulk sub, its a old one, the tote itself is clear only the lid is not. To fix the dark lid prob all you need is a acrylic sheet (plexi-glass) a exacto knife and some silicone or polyurethane glue post-78-0-41340000-1335820484_thumb.jpg post-78-0-55217500-1335820533_thumb.jpg the sheet needs to be wider then the hole you cut on the lid.

I did this awhile back it peeled apart on me. You need to scuff up the plastic and plexi-glass edges to make for something to grab onto. Some sandpaper will work fine. I ended up just duct taping it on. no problems yet!

A tek is science, people before you have had great success with them. They show your the way to success with put mush failures. when you have the know how , you can try more... with more success.

I'm sorry about that accidental quote, this website is still confusing. These are both separate teks people have sent me. And I said ports in the paragraph which was my slang for portabelas. Is there any chance they will grow? I just want to see a little bit of miselium to get me excited

Yes, better than coffee in dixie cups....but why not just follow one of the teks on ology? It seems you are pretty motivated to get going, but you are more likely to have success the first time around if you follow the tek exactly.  And if you let us know what type of spores you're working with it will be easier to give you some guidance in the right direction.  We want you to be successful too!

I did some research on begginer teks last night. I have one jar (on the left) with a mixture of brown rice, sawdust, and 1 cup of water. And on the right is cleaned birdseed with water. Bought a cheap PC at goodwill and used that on both to steam them out. Soaked store bought ports overnight and sucked some of the liquid into a sterile syringe and put it in both. I am expecting a contam in both, but I hope to be able to get some miselium growing and be able to transport... is that better than my coffee in a dixie cup scheme?
