80 hours after inoculation. Mold or Myc?

It’s been so hot out the spores probably germinated in the syringe. That happens a lot. Many of us have switched to whole oats. Cheaper and easier to find than rye (which I’ve never used anyway). Use what you have. Spawn is spawn.

80 hours after inoculation. Mold or Myc?

MZ...big shoutout to you, brotha. This is my first go at it in like five or six years. Right now having a hard time finding rye, but wheat berries are plentiful...& cheaper. I have a few quart jars going with your exact tek... only a day old though. These half pints are almost 4 days old though... Sure would be painfully ironic if I got cobweb or asper mold right in the area where I nocced haha. I just didn’t expect to see growth so quickly, that’s really what sparked my main worry. But I’ll let them go for a while.... As with many things in this hobby, only Time will tell 🤷🏽‍♂️ Thanks fo the reply, both of you guys. Lol true. I basically hit that exact spot with 1.5cc. Didn’t expect to see growth so quickly but it’s definitely myc... of SOME type 😂 I did hear that Amazonian is pretty “aggressive“ , comparatively....

80 hours after inoculation. Mold or Myc?

Mold and mushroom both produce mycelium.

    Newb. Hi!

Greetings Everyone, I'm excited to absorb massive amounts of information from this space as I have exciting projects ahead of me! Long, long ago I read "Psilocybin - The Magic Mushroom Growers Guide" by O.T. Oss. I was successful, though it was a process frought with many hurdles and contamination along the way. Then I got married, had a career and raised a family. After some wonderful psychedelic experiences in '18, and with kids perched on the edge of the nest, I've decided to try my hand at cultivation again and reconnect with what may be shaping into a....movement? Too strong a word? I don't know, there seems to be a lot of energy around shrooms these days. I'm hoping that connecting with a community of like minded people will save me some of the pain I went through with my first attempts, and time. Questions to follow. Many, I'm sure :-). Cheers, Ouro

80 hours after inoculation. Mold or Myc?

80 hours past inoculation. PES Amazonian. Looks a little wispy, but it’s growing directly along the side of the jar that I injected (through a SHIP w/2 µm filter for FAE). Winter Weat berry/verm spawn tek. Adaptation of MZ’s Winter Wheat tek. (I shook the jars to mix with verm prior to PC’ing. He doesn’t do this in his tek)

A friend gave me some spawn but didn’t mark it up. Idk what kinda cube it is ? I was hoping for a chitwan.

Does anyone want to venture a guess on this mystery strain ?

    clear liner for shoeboxes

Liners are used to reduce side pinning in tubs. Since substrate shrinks as it colonizes, liners will shrink with it to keep from creating a gap that then would create a microclimate for side pins to develop and grow. Light reaching the sides isn't much of a problem from what I've read, rather it's the gap created from the shrinking substrate which is why we use liners. You don't have to use them, as long as you're able to keep the surface of your substrate at optimal conditions ie. correct moisture content, humidity, level substrate surface. Then you shouldn't have side pins, but that's easier said than done.

    clear liner for shoeboxes

To prevent side pins And keep moisture where it’s needed

So why do yall use a liners? I just sprayed my tub with black paint. (Because I was under the impression that I needed to keep light out)Mine are doing good.

    Grow Log #4

The last two Plan B cakes were buried out under the tree in the backyard. Verm is starting to pile up back there. It'll be a couple months but I'll let you know what happened to the tubs I put into the fridge with the lids on after I take them out and try to get them to pin again.

    Grow Log #3

The last two alleged p. mex tubs were buried out behind the tree in the back yard. The myc, whatever it was, was dying. This tek was a complete and total failure. Except for learning what not to do and what doesn't work and some "vendors" out there can not be trusted. Still have to put a trace on my Money Order.

    Grow Log #4

Since I don't know how to do this I'm just going to spray them down good, put the lids on them, and shove them in the fridge. If they survive 2.5 months they survive. If not they don't. Fuck it.

Thank Mush. I'm gonna give it a go.

  23. Particularly interested in supplemented peat moss as the casing tho and with coffee as the supplement bout 20:1 ratio coco coir to coffee.I had hoped it would provide a superior casing cause it would act as a longer acting reserve bank of power of nutes.Unfortuntely I think it kept it mainly from jumping into fruiting stage, Also I think it’s introducing unnecessary risk for not enough reward. Eventually will work my way up to the experiment of having a almost hollow design where I will surround the supplemental nute substrate by already colonized mycelium ready to go into fruit mode so as to having almost three layers of mycelium each with there own designed purpose.Nutes in center being pushed out to the already fruiting mycelium, being the key differential factor of design.

    Help with Agar

Unless you're working with an isolate you could see multiple types of growth. It could be tammy but I've used agars like that and they did great.
  25. So what exactly is the experiment? Cased vs uncased?

    Help with Agar

Parafilm. What do you think is causing it to look like that? This dish was the worst of them all. All of the dishes except this one grew to the edge and then something thin and wispy grew over top of it or its aerial myc. 10 o'clock on the first picture. That was not an innoculation point. It grew on it's on so I feel like it has to be something other than mycellium. But I'm new to Agar so I'm not sure.
  27. To early to call honestly...I gave what brief analysis I could above, would you concur in analysis? Also would you say the pinsets I do have appear on the fairly dry side or that just me? Ramped up some of the hydration to make up for what I missed when I was away but all in all I think they moving along as they should on at least the uncased side.

Unless it turns colors I'd say you're good. How are they sealed?
