So this is my first go with trying the whole new Uncle Ben craze and was just trying to see if it’s as easy as everyone was claiming. I inoculated on the 17th but I’m not seeing results so figure I would come here for help. My process was pretty simple: Wiped the packages with iso, flame sterilized my spite needle, poked and squirted, and applied some micropore. One bag started blowing up with pressure so I’m assuming maybe the micropore wasn’t really letting it breath. The other bag just kinda stayed as is. So now I have a mushy bag of bens and a bag that I can’t really tell if anything is happening .What do Yal suggest in this situation?
So this will be my first grow ever and I'm also new here, so go easy XD. I will be growing some "legal shiitake" mushrooms and have put COUNTLESS hours of research into it, mostly here on Shroomology. I am planning on using brown rice cakes and mason jars. I've also got copious amounts of BR on hand as I love to eat it, so I am fairly settled on using BR at least partly. I am ready to begin ordering everything that I need, however it would be excessively difficult to order any special substrate such as PF for several reasons that I will not mention. So my questions are; can I grow productively with BRF without the use of special substrate? could I mix both cooked or uncooked rice with the BRF to act as moisture control, or for any other benefit? in place of having to turn the BR into flour with a coffee grinder or blender, could I use whole BR instead? Thanks in advance
