So many many Teks go with coffee grains but they often times say SPENT coffee grains with this experiment I went with some grains straight from the can and added to the peat moss. Once the water was boiling I added the exact amount that would make it field grade mixed throughly and allowed to cool. Approx 6oz of spawn to 20oz peat moss.Wax paper added with a heavy misting and set for approx 9 days. Added to FC 2 days into FC first pin! Also a control with shoebox with no coffee grains to see if coffee grains have any benefit or not.
Super S posted a topic in Getting Started Growing MushroomsI'm growing Cubensis and without access to poop. So Im in between doing Coco coir, spent coffee grounds, and gypsum... Or Coco coir, vermiculite and gypsum. Which one should i go with and if you can explain why that would be great... More importantly what would be the ratio...
So still very new, but I enjoy experimenting. I may have lost a whole bulk grow container of Maui P due to over experimentation. However this Golden T seems to be right on. I am going for an early fruiting because I am running out of space in my 2nd master bathroom (aka my shroomery). Trying a bonafide grow light see if some urgency is put on the myc to fruit. Recipe is coco coir, verm, coffee, calcium magnesium zinc, baking soda and malt barley. spawn was straight popcorn (best spawn jars ever, no contamination in all 13 pint jars) I'll keep you posted on progress, but any suggestions?
mescawin posted a topic in Member Grow LogsToday is the 9th day of my 6 quart tub's spawn run. I sneaked a peek to make sure it was getting along fine. Seems I had nothing to worry about with them at all. Very excited at seeing all this growth. I'm about to prepare the casing layer today. Went out shopping. 10 bucks for a giant 62 liter bag of spag peat moss (100% sph). I'm pretty sure this is much better than the miracle-gro SPMoss that I saw first. The MG brand had organic compost in it or similar, making it somewhat nutritious for my mycelium. This stuff is 100% moss. So it should create a better non-nutritious layer right? I was also considering straining my vermiculite to make sure it's only coarse grade; straining would make sure there is much less medium and fine grade in it. Is my casing layer better off being all coarse grade verm? I want my pH to end up right at 7? I should cut my trash bag when I apply that casing layer right? I should make it look like the one on the right in this picture, correct? Thanks everyone on the journey with me.
