  1. Contaminated/Questions

Image 1 is a my first tub - Image 2&3 is second tub - Image 4 third Alright big dogs its my time growing and I think one of my monotubs is contaminated (Image 4). I used a Mycowilly tutorial on Vimeo and my tubs have polyfill in them from the start. He says they'll pin in a few days if you fan and mist often but I also see people say not to open the tub and let it the full colonization take place. I think its been about 7 days, I've had them in some natural light during the day, was fanning but backed off and my room temp has been like 70-85 f probably. Do I just let these bad boys sit and keep colonization? Should i just stick them in my closet for a week? Mist and water more? #ganggang
  2. Hi, I've inoculated Penis envy (PE) in november. First time grower. Cakes were ordered from a popular website (I will do mine next time, but for the sake of giving you the most accurate information) Spores were ordered from a liable source. Light : I gave them light, didn't go for the total darkness for weeks. Something around 12/12, or maybe 10 light, 14 darkness. Temperature : 20 Celsius only for the main part. (68-70 F) Didn't want to put a heating mat under it for different reasons. Took them about 8 weeks to fully colonize and then I got some weird looking mycelium. I know that PE can do blobs, but I can't find any solid information about it, especially on cakes. Smell : When i opened the jar, no smell. After adding some water to get it out more easily, the characteristic mushroom smell came to my nose. Hooray! Am I ok with my thinking "If it quacks like a duck, walk like a duck but smell Psilocibe mushroom, then it is a mushroom" ? Dunking : 20-24h each cake Chamber : made a shotgun chamber with perlite Blobs : I kept a few, dried it and stored it, waiting for any knowledgeable input The others are still on the cakes. A few of them overnight became oddly blue... :/ As we speak, the weirdest jars and/or incomplete colonization are still waiting patiently. Didn't want to put them in the same SG chamber. I have a few things that remain unclear to me : 1) what can I possibly do with a stalled jar ? (I know that I should use with mouth mason jars btw, bought some for the next experimentation) 2) What am I looking at ? Is it PE, could it be something else? What do I do with the blobs? 3) Do you consider blobs as mycelium or as mushrooms? I've read that a shocked mycellium can become blue temporarily, but what about a blob getting dark blue overnight? More pictures to follow soon (featuring dark blue color that came out.... out of the blue) badummm tssss Thanks for your help

  4. Hello All, I've been lurking here for about a month now. I finally decided to try my hand at a grow. My cakes seemed to have dried out and got blue bruising. I then re-dunked and re-rolled. Now they've started pinning and one cake has begun growing. Just wondering if these look okay or if I need to throw them out due to contamination? Let me know if I can provide any additional details or take additional photos. Thanks in advance.
  5. Hi All, need help, I think my grows may be contaminated. Thanks
  6. Contaminated? :(

6 qt dub tub technique When I harvested the mushrooms I cut them at the base rather than the twist and pull technique. This left behind some mushroom stumps in the substrate. I just preformed my first dunk and put the substrate back into fruiting conditions. On one side of my substrate I've noticed pins pushing up but on the other side near the base of the old stumps, left from the harvest, I've noticed some green starting to form and was wondering if this could be contamination. Is this contaminated? What do you guys think about the cutting technique, as apposed the the twist and pull? Could this contaminate be caused by the stumps in the substrate? Also there are some flies in the room adjacent to my grow room but I've not noticed any inside, could this also be a reason for the green growth?
  7. I'm guessing this is bad, but before I throw it away I wanted to check... and there were some days when the room got pretty hot. Thanks guys, youve been a huge hep since I started following this forum.
