    Upright Freezer Incubator

So guys I have a dream which I plan on starting on soon and I will add pics to follow. I have came across a rather large upright freezer it is an older style with the cooling tubes running through ever single rack. This being said I want to use this freezer as a giant incubator for all my grains and trays I'm going to do this using a 300 watt fish tank heater and water pump to pump warm water through coils above and below every rack to ensure even temps. I'm also later on going to be using air pump to pump in fresh filter air in the top for gas exchange which will go out the drain in the bottom along with any heavier co2 gases
  2. Just finished pressure cooking 7 quarts of wbs, going with Str0be's WBS no fail tek, and use the 6 qt dub tubs as fruiting chambers. This site has been super helpful in figuring out everything needed to grow as well as helping me learn about mushrooms in general which tbh are really cool. THANKS YALL, Just got a few more questions before I continue... 1.For incubating the WBS jars what technique works best? My plan is to just put all the jars together in a closed box with a blanket and maybe use some kind of terrarium heating pad, any easy, cheap proven incubation methods out there? 2.How long could you let a jar sit without inoculating it, after pressure cooking it? (friend might be late on bringin me spores) 3. Also im confused with how the high temp silicone is to be used or what its purpose is? Wouldn't putting that stuff ontop of the hole you punch into the jar stop gas exchange? honestly feel really prepared, got all the shit i need, and got a really good feeling about this first grow thanks to shroomology!
  3. I'm looking to build a new incubator and have decided to use a refrigerator. New refrigerator incubators cost between $4,000 and $6,000, so that's out of the question and just plain retarded. I have a few refrigerators to choose from (used apartment frige). The plan is to hard wire a Ranco or Ink-bird thermostat to a 110v outlet near the bottom back of the refrigerator. Then use a 150 to 200 watt panel heater, mounted on the back wall. Then drill a 4" hole on the side as high as possible in the freezer section and another as low as possible in the frige section. Then conect the 2 holes using 3.5" pvc pipe, the warmest air will be pulled back to the bottom section using a 12v computer fan. I have everything for this project on hand except the panel heater, so I will another heat sorce until it arrives. I'll be building it this weekend, and yes I will share pictures of the process.
  4. Hey Gents, So winter is fast approaching and the outdoor temps are starting to drop, this is wrecking havoc on my incubator. Up until this point I have been using my closet as an incubator, since the outside wall faces the sun and absorbs some heat plus my computer tower putting off some heat kept the room right at about 77 degrees as long as the door was shut. However since the outside air is dropping my incubator temps have been dropping with it. it went from working at 78-80 degrees to ~73 degrees. So I'm trying to think of a good way to increase the temps in the entire closet, but only by a bit. Do any of you guys have a good idea here? If this fails to work out I'm just going to make a TiT, but at the same time how would I incubate monotubs?
  5. Hey! i am about to start this great journey by doing the highly recommended 6 qt dub tub technique. I am a little perplexed on the spawn procedure when incubation should begin. I get you use a black bag on the bottom and you cover it the top with holes and have in the tinfoil for fresh air flow. But I was wondering if there was a really great rig that I can make in which i can keep the temperature around 77-80 degrees which is recommended. I don't have the ability to rig myself a little room where they would be fine. Sorry about this question. Also can you guys give me more than one suggestion? I really would love also if you could rate which is the hardest. I am sorry again about these question. Thanks Also if I got 5 syringes, the 6wt dub tub guy said use 1 CC or 1mL of the syringe per mason jar. So that means I could theoretically make 50 jars right(not that I would)? Thanks!!
