So, went hunting two days in a row and came up squat. Looking in all the right places, but obvioisly doing something wrong. I'd love to start a discussion about hunting tips. I was in a state park today and found "prime" hunting spots like this dead elm that had may apples right behind it. Theoretically there should have been a motherload. An older gentlemen approached me as I came out of the woods and asked if I thought it was a little dry for mushroom hunting.
Also it seems morels have a mycorrhizal relationship with certain trees and may apples. I noticed many times that where I found may apples I could spot a dead/dying elm within 20 feet. This hints to me a mycelial network. I can feel em under me, just can't find em right now for some reason.
Maybe I'm looking between flushes. Maybe someone beat me to it already. What have you guys found over the years?
